About OlMar Travel

Olmar Travel is a National Geographic, Viator/Tripadvisor, and Get Your Guide approved tour company that operates across Mexico. Our main offering includes shared and private tours from Cancun, Riviera Maya or Tulum to key attractions and destinations including Chichen Itza, the Tulum Ruins, and Coba. Our tours focus on the unique cultural history and heritage of the Yucatán peninsula. Our tours cover meals, transportation, admission fees, and more — we guarantee there are no hidden fees when you book with us.  

Additionally, we offer multi-day tours all around Mexico. You can also count on us for transfers from Cancun and Mexico City airports.

Our private tours are customizable. As a starting point, we offer a curated itinerary that can be redesigned by adding or taking out some points. Past examples of this include clients adding a pick-up or drop-off in the airport or requesting a drop off in a different location.

For our clients who book a private tour with us and need an itinerary to be changed for a guest who has a special request, we recommend contacting us first to check if we can accommodate a special request.

Shared tours are not customizable, and they are designed to suit every traveler's needs to see the major tourist attractions in the area.

About the Tours

Depending on the itinerary, it can be somewhere between 4 and 13 hours. You may find this information on the booking pages of our website.

If you need to arrange any other activity before/after your tour, or you need to be back from the tour at a particular time, we recommend contacting us before making a reservation to confirm if your request can be arranged.

The capacity for our shared tours depends on the type of tour. Our private tours are only for the party who books the tour — no other travelers are allowed to join a private tour.

If the number of people on the shared tour is a decisive point for you, please contact us before making a reservation and check if the tour you want to book meets your expectations.

All our tours are operated in English or Spanish. We offer private tours in German, French, Italian, Russian, or Portuguese. When booking a tour, you can choose the language option you need. In case you cannot find the information/language you need, please contact us.

You cannot climb the stairs of the pyramids at Chichen Itza or Coba. However, travelers can climb the pyramid at Ek-Balam.

Booking Your Tour

Please select the tour you want to book, click the “Check Availability” button on the tour page, and simply follow the instructions.

After the booking is completed, you will receive an instant confirmation and your ticket via email. We will resend this email confirmation within 24 hours to ensure delivery. In case you have any issues, please contact our team.

For our shared and one-day private tours:

  • Cancellation fee of 100% is charged if cancelled 1 day or less before the event
  • Cancellation fee of 50% is charged if cancelled 1 day and 23 hours or less before the event
  • Cancellation fee of 20% is charged if cancelled 2 days and 23 hours or less before the event
  • Cancellation fee of 0% is charged if cancelled 3 days or less before the event

Please note: Our multi-day tours are nonrefundable. In the case of force majeure that prevents clients from being able to come on tour, individual terms can be discussed.

You can pay via our website with any credit card. Please contact us if you have trouble making a reservation.

We usually offer discounts and promotions for direct bookings on our website, please follow us on social media to get the promotions.

We do not have a group discount policy, as it may depend on the group and the activities they want to book. We will be happy to discuss a special price for group bookings and accommodate special requests for a particular group.

The cut-off time for most of our one-day tours is 12 hours. As for multi-day tours, those should be booked at least 2 weeks in advance.

About Transportation

The type of vehicle depends on the size of the group, we operate any type of vehicle from comfortable cars to big buses, especially big private groups.

Private tours: For a private tour pick up from any accommodation (resorts, hotels, Airbnbs) in Cancun, Riviera Maya or Tulum is included. Please note that for some Tulum Hotel Zone hotels, we provide a meeting point in Starbucks Tulum.

Special Requests: We can also pick up from the ferry stations in Cancun or Playa del Carmen (for those traveling from Isla Mujeres or Holbox island), or Cancun International airport in case the flight arrives early enough to start the tour without compromising the itinerary.

Pick-up times: This can depend on the hotel the travelers are staying at. The tour usually starts with a visit to Tulum—if the hotel is close to Tulum. For hotels or accommodation in Cancun, pick-up time can begin as early as 06:30 a.m.

Drop-off locations: We can drop off the guests in a different location if they need to change hotels or arrive at the airport or at the ferry station. A drop-off point must however be in Cancun, Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen or Tulum.

For our shared tours it may differ, but pickup from a hotel lobby in Cancun hotel zone is typically included.

For downtown hotels/accommodations in Cancun we offer several meeting points; and a meeting point in Puerto Juarez Ultramar for Isla Mujeres hotels. Pick-up from All-Inclusive Hotels on Riviera Maya, Akumal, and Tulum is included.

For hotels in Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Playacar and Tulum we offer several meeting points. Please make sure you mention your hotel/accommodation details when making a booking. Please contact our team at least 48 hours (about 2 days) before the tour to confirm your pick-up time and place. 

The type of vehicle depends on the size of the group, we operate any type of vehicle from comfortable cars to big buses, especially big private groups.

Our standard vehicles are not wheelchair friendly, however we can accommodate a special request for a special vehicle suitable for our guests who use wheelchairs.
